As a free agent invitee to Pittsburgh’s NHL camp this fall Joey impressed the Penguins brass enough to earn an entry level contract. He played his minor hockey in the Sydney Minor Hockey Association before playing midget hockey with the Cape Breton Tradesmen of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League. He was a 4th round draft pick of the PEI Rocket in 2006. He had a break out year last season after a trade to the Screaming Eagles scoring 31 goals and adding 31 assist while playing in all 70 games. He has had nine multiple point games this season while amassing 35 points in 32 games this season. Joey scored his first goal as a Screaming Eagle on Sept.23, 2007, the overtime winner against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. His first Q League goal came on Oct.29, 2005 against the Rouyn-Nornada Huskies.
