Sydney – The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles announced today that they have acquired 18 year old defensemen Mitchell Shewfelt (07-02-1994) from the Sherbrooke Phoenix in exchange for a 10th Round pick in 2013.
Shewfelt played last season with the Halifax Mooseheads before being acquired by the Phoenix in the expansion draft this past June. In 56 games with the Mooseheads, the 5’9” 180lb defensemen had 2 goals, 5 assists, and 23 penalty minutes.
With the addition of Shewfelt, the Screaming Eagles now have 11 defensemen in camp.
Shewfelt is expected to join the Screaming Eagles in Halifax on Saturday for their first exhibition game against the Mooseheads that takes place at 7pm at the Halifax Forum.
