Screaming Eagles Release Two Players; Recall Beaton

SYDNEY — The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles made a pair of cuts today and recalled one player.

Players released include 16-year-old forward Julien Pelletier and 17-year-old goaltender Chase Marchand. They also recalled 17-year-old forward Zach Beaton.

Pelletier, a native of Gatineau, Que., was drafted in the third round by the Screaming Eagles in the 2012 QMJHL draft. Marchand, of Cole Harbour, was also drafted in the 10th round by the Screaming Eagles.

Beaton, 6-3, 170-pounds, was selected by the Screaming Eagles in the 12th round of the 2012 draft. Last week, he was assigned to the Summerside Capitals of the Maritime Junior Hockey League.

The Screaming Eagles play their next exhibition game Sept. 7 when they host the Halifax Mooseheads at the Emera Centre Northside at 7 p.m. Cape Breton opens the 2012-13 season on home ice against Halifax on Sept. 21 at Centre 200, beginning at 7 p.m.
