Screaming Eagles Lose 4-1 To Voltigeurs

  The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles suffered their eighth loss of the season as the Drummondville Voltigeurs defeated Cape Breton 4-1 in front of 2,586 fans on hand at Centre 200, Friday.

  Marc-Olivier Brouillard, Jérôme Verrier, Jérémy Auger and Joey Ratelle each scored goals for the Voltigeurs, who improve to 8-7-0-0 on the season.

  Alexandre Lavoie netted the lone goal for the Screaming Eagles, who fall to 2-8-2-2 on the year.

  Drummondville got the scoring started at 13:48 of the first period as Marc-Olivier Brouillard scored his sixth of the season going high blocker side on Screaming Eagle goaltender Alex Bureau, Jordan Murray and Olivier Archambault were given the assists.

  The Screaming Eagles would tie the game at one at 18:36 of the opening period as Alexandre Lavoie netted his ninth goal of the season beating Voltigeurs goaltender Domenic Graham low on the glove side, William Carrier and Loic Leduc picked up the helpers on the goal.

  The Voltigeurs regained the lead with 15.4 seconds remaining in the first period as Jérôme Verrier tapped home his third goal of the season, Olivier Archambault and Marc-Olivier Brouillard recorded the assists.

  Drummondville took a 3-1 lead at 5:44 of the second period shorthanded as Jérémy Auger found the back of the net for his second goal of the season, Olivier Caouette was given credit for the only helper on the goal.

  Joey Ratelle padded the Drummondville lead on the power play at 10:09 of the third period as he scored his first career Quebec Major Junior Hockey League goal, Guillaume Gauthier was given credit with the lone assist.

  Domenic Graham made 16 saves in the win for Drummondville, his record improves to 4-4-0-0 while Alex Bureau turned aside 35 of 39 shots in the loss for Cape Breton, his record falls to 2-3-1-0.

  The Screaming Eagles next game is tomorrow (Saturday, October 27th) as they host the Drummondville Voltigeurs in their fourth annual "Pink At The Rink" game at Centre 200. Game time is 7pm.

Not in the lineup for Cape Breton: John-Michael Walsh, Raphaël Corriveau (suspended), Kyle Campbell (suspended), Simon Darveau (shoulder) and David Honzik (shoulder).

Not in the lineup for Drummondville: Forwards, Alexandre Grenier, Jérémie Malouin and Ryan Labrie.

First Career QMJHL Goal: Drummondville Voltigeurs left winger Joey Ratelle scored his first career Quebec Major Junior Hockey League goal on Friday night. The native of Otterburn Park, Que. made the score 4-1 for Drummondville at 10:09 of the third period. Ratelle was drafted by Drummondville at the 2012 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft in round two, 31st overall.

Game Misconducts: Cape Breton's Blake Millman, Jonathan Oligny and Stephen Woodworth along with Drummondville's Olivier Archambault, Jordan Murray and Jérôme Verrier were all given game misconducts during the third period on Friday. Each player was given the game misconduct for unsportmanlike conduct.

Spearing: Cape Breton Screaming Eagle left winger Blake Millman picked up a spearing penalty during the third period of Friday's game.

Hits: Cape Breton Screaming Eagle players Loic Leduc and Cole Murphy each recorded five hits in the game against Drummondville.

Final Shots On Goal: 39-17 in favor of Drummondville.

Cape Breton went 0/2 on the power play while Drummondville went 1/3.
