  The Sherbrooke Phoenix were successful in picking up their first road victory in franchise history on Wednesday night as they edged the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 6-5 in overtime in front of 2,347 fans on hand at Centre 200.

  Michael McNamee and Cole Hawes led the way for Sherbrooke with two goals and two assists each, while Brandon Lesway and Alexandre Comtois scored single markers for the Phoenix, who improve to 2-8-0-1 on the season.

  Kyle Farrell had a pair of goals for Cape Breton, while Michael Clarke, William Carrier and Stephen Woodworth also found the back of the net for the Screaming Eagles, who fall to 2-6-2-2 on the year.

  Cape Breton got the scoring started in the game as Alexandre Lavoie found Michael Clarke parked in the slot, he made no mistake for his fifth goal of the season on the power play at 5:25 of the first period, Lavoie and Justin Haché were given the assists

  The Phoenix would tie the game at one as Michael McNamee poked home his fourth goal of the season at 14:06 of the opening frame, Cole Hawes picked up the lone helper on the goal.

  Just seconds later, William Carrier put Cape Breton up 2-1 at 14:45 of the first frame as he fired a rocket beating Phoenix goaltender Jacob Gervais-Chouinard high on the glove side for his seventh goal of the season, Alexandre Lavoie and Kyle Farrell were awarded with the assists.

  Sherbrooke would answer back at 17:54 of the first period as Cole Hawes netted his second goal of the season beating Screaming Eagle goaltender Philippe Trudeau, the goal was unassisted.

  The Phoenix took a 3-2 lead into the first intermission as Michael McNamee scored his second goal of the game (fifth of the season) beating Trudeau on a bad angle with 1.9 seconds remaining in the opening period, Alexis Bernier and Brandon Lesway found the score sheet with the helpers.

  The Screaming Eagles tied the game at three at 1:23 of the second period as Kyle Farrell buried a William Carrier rebound for his fifth goal of the season, Carrier and Alexandre Lavoie were given the assists.

  Sherbrooke regained the lead as Brandon Lesway scored his first career Quebec Major Junior Hockey League goal at 2:10 of the middle frame, Carl Neill picked up the only helper on the goal.

  Cape Breton again would tie the game as Stephen Woodworth's point shot beat Gervais-Chouinard at 18:53 of the second stanza for his second goal of the season, Kyle Farrell and William Carrier added the assists.

  Kyle Farrell gave the Screaming Eagles the lead at 2:36 of the third period as he tapped home his second goal of the game (sixth of the season), Jonathan Oligny and William Carrier were given the helpers.

  The Phoenix tied the game at five at 14:29 of the final period as Cole Hawes netted his second goal of the game (third of the season), Michael McNamee and Vincent Richer chipped in with the assists.

  The game would go to overtime. With Screaming Eagle left winger William Carrier in the box for tripping, Alexandre Comtois buried his fourth goal of the season at 1:06 of the extra frame to secure the victory for Sherbrooke, Cole Hawes and Michael McNamee were given credit for the helpers.


  Jacob Gervais-Chouinard made 22 saves in the win for Sherbrooke, his record improves to 2-6-0-0 while Philippe Trudeau turned aside five of eight shots before being replaced by Alex Bureau at the start of the second period. Bureau stopped 14 of 17 shots in the loss, his record falls to 1-2-1-0.

  The Screaming Eagles next game is Friday (October 19th) as they travel to Bathurst, New Brunswick to face the Titan. Game time is 7:30pm at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre. First Ever Meeting: Wednesday night's meeting between Cape Breton and Sherbrooke marked the first ever meeting in franchise history between the two clubs.

First Ever Road Win: The Sherbrooke Phoenix on Wednesday were successful in picking up their first road victory in franchise history. Entering Wednesday's game the Phoenix were 0-3-0-0 on the road.

First Career QMJHL Goal: Sherbrooke Phoenix defenseman Brandon Lesway scored his first career Quebec Major Junior Hockey League goal on Wednesday. Lesway gave Sherbrooke a 4-3 lead at 2:10 of the second period. Lesway was signed by Sherbrooke as a free agent in September.

Final shots on goal: 27-25 in favor of Cape Breton.

Cape Breton went 1/3 on the power play while Sherbrooke went 1/3.
