The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles picked up their first win on home ice as they defeated the Drummondville Voltigeurs 4-1 in front of 2,677 fans on hand at Centre 200, Saturday.
The win also marked the first time the Screaming Eagles have won while hosting their annual "Pink At The Rink" game.
William Carrier, Alexandre Lavoie, Brett Malone and Stephen Woodworth each scored goals for the Screaming Eagles, who improve to 3-8-2-2 on the season.
Matthew Boudens netted the lone goal for the Voltigeurs, who fall to 8-8-0-0 on the year.
Cape Breton took the lead as William Carrier scored his ninth goal of the season at 5:55 of the first period, Kyle Farrell and Alexandre Lavoie were given the assists.
The Voltigeurs would tie the game at one as Matthew Boudens found the back of the net for his first goal of the season at 4:07 of the opening period, Olivier Caouette picked up the lone helper.
Cape Breton regained the lead at 12:45 of the second period as Alexandre Lavoie's backhander beat Drummondville goaltender Domenic Graham high on the blocker side for his 10th goal of the season, Cole Murphy and Bronson Beaton recorded the assists.
Newly acquired Brett Malone gave Cape Breton some insurance as he buried his first goal as a Screaming Eagle at 15:47 of the third period, Jonathan Oligny was given the only helper.
Cape Breton would add another goal as Stephen Woodworth scored his third goal of the season shorthanded into an empty net at 19:33 of the final frame, the goal was unassisted.
Philippe Trudeau made 15 saves in the win for Cape Breton, his record improves to 2-5-1-2 while Domenic Graham turned aside 17 of 20 shots in the loss for Drummondville, his record falls to 4-5-0-0.
The Screaming Eagles next game is Tuesday, October 30th as they host the defending Mastercard Memorial Cup champion Shawinigan Cataractes. Game time is 7pm from Centre 200.

Pink At The Rink: The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles hosted their fourth annual "Pink At The Rink" game on Saturday night against Drummondville. The Screaming Eagles wore custom designed pink jerseys in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The club also sold special pink t-shirts with all proceeds being donated to the cause. Raffle tickets were also sold during the game for $5.00 for a chance to win one of the 24 pink jerseys. Winners were given the jerseys following the game.
Cheque Presentation: Jennifer Campbell, Chair and Steve Latimer, Treasurer, of the Cape Breton Dragon Boat Festival along with Cliff Murphy, Cape Breton Building & Construction, made a cheque presentation for $54,000 in support of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, the Cape Breastoners Dragon Boat team and Special Olympics Cape Breton.
Puck Drop: Mae MacLean, Cape Breastoners Dragon Boat member and Ron Crawley, Casino Nova Scotia, joined Ingrid Murphy (Cole Murphy's Mother) for the games ceremonial puck drop during the pre-game events.
Performance and National Anthem: The Breton Song Birds, a local women's choir, performed for fans prior to the game at Centre 200 and also song the national anthem.
First "Pink At The Rink" Win: With the win, the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles marked their first win while hosting their annual "Pink At The Rink" game. Prior to the game the Screaming Eagles lost their last three "Pink At The Rink" games dating back to October of 2009 at Centre 200.

Game Misconducts: Cape Breton Screaming Eagle left winger William Carrier and Drummondville Voltigeur defenseman Gabriel Vermette were both given game misconducts for staging a fight during the first period of the game.
