(Sydney, NS) - The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles annual training camp will begin Sunday, August 12 and for the first time in the clubs history it will not be held at Centre 200. The Screaming Eagles prospects will be spending nine days at Cape Breton University (CBU) where they will not only train but host a Black and White game, as well as an Exhibition game against their Nova Scotia rival, The Halifax Mooseheads .

50 players will attend the camp which will be self-contained at Cape Breton University. The schedule will include ice time, paired with dryland training exercises and outdoor activities.  CBU boasts state-of-the-art facilities perfect for the training camp. The Canada Games Complex, Cape Breton Health Recreation Centre, Sullivan Field House, and outdoor soccer turf and volleyball courts will all be used during the training period. Meals will be catered at Harriss Hall and prospects will stay in dorm-style living quarters of Alumni Hall, which will provide the home away from home atmosphere needed for team building.

Screaming Eagles General Manager of Hockey Operations, Pierre Roux said, “We are pleased to be working with Cape Breton University on the 16 annual Training Camp. Our club trains to a very high standard and the quality of the facilities at CBU will allow our staff and players to really focus on performance.”

Gordon MacInnis, vice president of finance and operations at CBU added, “Both the Screaming Eagles and Cape Breton University are proud and supportive members of the community. A partnership of this caliber makes sense and serves as added value in the community that we both operate in. We are looking forward to having such a talented group on our campus.”

Both games which will take place in the Canada Games Complex are open to the public. The first is a Black and White game being held on Thursday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m., the second game will take place on Sunday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. against the Halifax Mooseheads. Information on ticket sales will be available in the following weeks.
